Toile Patterned Wallpaper. What sounds more stuffy and traditional than toile wallpaper? Nothing, probably. But whimsical stationary powerhouse Rifle Paper Co has turned toile upside down with their playful metallic and black cityscape toile wallpaper. We love how bold this pattern is, and could see it being the perfect quirky touch in a traditionally designed home—as a statement wall or all-over in a powder room.
Repurpose Thrift Store Items. Thrift store items have come a long way when it comes to people's perceptions. Second-hand stores are finally being appreciated as wonderful places to find unique and interesting items for your home - and a great find is something worth bragging about! Often it takes a little work on your part as many items require a little upcycling (new hardware, a fresh coat of paint, new upholstery, a little sanding and staining, etc.) but great thrift store finds can save you money and give your home tons of character.
Books. We live in an age where books are becoming less common, but when it comes to decorating books are as important as they’ve ever been. Having books in a room (coffee table books in particular) is great for a few reasons – they’re great for filling empty shelves, they’re super for including in coffee table displays when you need a little height, and they’re great for flipping through when you or your guests are bored. Beautiful books are just that – beautiful, and every room should have at least a few.
Artwork of country, casual themes is simply framed using wooden frames, either painted or stained. The dining table of a room decorated in a casual style would be set with rugged stoneware, textured woven or fabric placemats, coordinated napkins, heavy glasses, stainless flatware, wooden bowls, and accessories of iron or pewter. The colors of the table should enhance the theme of the room, using either bold floral patterns, plain pieces, or soft, comfortable pastels.
