Beds and Bed Frames. Country log beamed ceiling in a bedroom. The lodge or log cabin style beds are heavy, rough and ornate pieces; which are typically made from crude wooden logs or rough, weathered wooden frames. The beds are traditionally made from aspen, cedar, or hickory that represents the Adirondack style furniture made popular during the Victorian era.
Ornate, rich, and expensive, these are adjectives which usually apply to Victorian home decor. While it can still be ornate and rich, it doesn't have to be expensive. Statement Lighting. Every home needs at least one really great light. It could be a statement chandelier, a sculptural table lamp, a modern floor lamp, or a really great sconce. A unique, statement piece will be a super conversation starter and will add some wow factor to the space.
Accent pieces of black iron are very popular and easy to find. Use a black metal tables base with glass top, black iron candlesticks and light fixtures in a dining room, black iron bookends in the family room or home office. To create a striking table setting, look for black and white china. All white or all black works well.
